Passaic County Toddler Dies After 3-Year Cancer Battle Liam Marquez, the honorary chief of the Totowa Fire Department, died on Thursday, Aug. 17, following a three-year battle with cancer. Liam was just a newborn when he was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancerous tumor that he battled for all three years of his short life. "Chief Liam truly exemplified courage, strength, and bravery as he battled cancer," the Totowa Fire Department said in Facebook post. Jersey City Man Charged With Assault After Car Crash: Prosecutors A 45-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged after his vehicle struck another car at a high rate of speed, authorities said. Patrick Gapasin was traveling north on Routes 1 and 9 when his Infinity Q60 collided with a Honda Accord at 7:55 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Sip Avenue intersection, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Simon and Jekyll are two sharks who have thoroughly have enjoyed their time together on the Jersey Shore. Jackpot! Lotto Players Win Big Bucks In North Jersey Three lotto players in North Jersey are about to receive a Power Ball payout. Three tickets sold in Essex County, Hudson County and Passaic County respectively matched four of the five white balls and the Power Ball drawn in the Wednesday, August 16 drawing, netting them $50,000. The tickets were sold at Krauser's Food Store in Bloomfield, Shoprite of Bayonne and Quick Stop in Clifton. Community Rallies To Help Man Get Service Dog An Essex County resident with special needs believes a service dog will change his life for the better. Unfortunately, his insurance won't pay for it. Albie Nieves, a Belleville resident, has launched a fundraiser to help him obtain the dog. As of Thursday, August 17, more than $5,700 has been raised. WWE Hall Of Famer, Monmouth County Native Pleads No Contest To Fatal DUI Crash Tammy Sytch, a Monmouth County native, who rose to prominence in the 1990s as a manager in the World Wrestling Federation, has pleaded no contest to driving drunk and killing a 75-year-old man in Florida last year according to court documents. Sytch, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011, faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced in November.
