'Gioia Mia': North Jersey Restaurant Honors Late Grandmother It's out with Fascino and in with Gioia Mia. Gioia Mia, which translates to "My Joy" has taken over the spot formerly held by Fascino, at 331 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair. The restaurant is now run by Mary Cumella, who was general manager of Fascino, with Logan Ramirez, who was chef de cusine at Fascino, serving as an executive chef. Two Arrested For Stealing Car, Stealing Handgun: Linden PD Two Newark residents were arrested in Linden on Thursday, July 6 for driving a stolen car and possessing a stolen handgun, police said. At 8 p.m., officers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Route 1, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police said. The car suddenly came to a stop at Avenue C and Tijohn Cato, 30, and Samiya Medina, 34 were arrested and taken into custody, Guenther said. One Killed, Two Injured in Newark Car Crash One person was killed and two people were injured in a two-car crash on the early morning of Sunday, July 9, authorities said. Police responded to a two-car crash on U.S. Route 1 and 9 North and McClellan Street at 3:24 a.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Florida Man Convicted Of Trying To Kill Estranged Wife, Her New BF In Maryland: Police A 60-year-old man was convicted of killing a man while he attempted to shoot his estranged wife in Maryland, authorities said on Monday, July 10. In Sept. 2021, Gary Savage drove from Tampa, FL to the Silver Spring home of his estranged wife, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office said in a news release. Savage saw his wife and 44-year-old Whali Shabazz getting into a vehicle and proceeded to open fire, killing Shabazz, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office said. Man Fatally Stabbed At Maryland Restaurant A 62-year-old Maryland man was fatally stabbed at a restaurant on Saturday, July 8, authorities said. At 4:20 p.m., Seat Pleasant Police and Prince George's County Police were called to a restaurant on the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Prince George's County Police said. Man Flashed Kids Multiple Times In VA: Police A 68-year-old Virginia man was arrested and charged with exposing himself in front of children multiple times for months, authorities said. Robert Devine, of Triangle, frequently exposed himself and made lewd gestures with children present between September 2022 and March 2023, Prince William County police said. He was charged on Sunday, July 9, with seven counts of taking indecent liberties with children and three counts of indecent exposure. One Dead, Another Injured From Jump In Jersey City Fire One person was killed in a fire in Jersey City early Monday morning, July 10, authorities said. A man who was pulled from the 269 269 Stegman St., blaze that broke out around 6:50 a.m. died at the hospital, while one other person who jumped from the second floor was injured, according to Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office. Community Rallies Around Families Of Newark Firefighters Killed Newark firefighters Augusto "Augie" Acabou and Wayne "Bear" Brooks made the ultimate sacrifice when they were killed battling a massive ship fire at Port Newark on Wednesday, July 5. Now, the community wants to give back. A fundraiser was created by the Newark Firefighters Union to assist the families of the two men killed.
