An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Submerged Car Leaves Delivery Driver Stranded Michael Torto, a Newark resident, was leaving the gym when he discovered his Honda Accord was halfway immersed in water. For Torto, who works as a delivery driver for Doordash and Uber Eats when he's not attending school at Harvard University, his car is his "prized possession" and necessary for his income. Guttenberg Man Had 25 Lbs. Of Marijuana, Stolen Car: Police Francis Rodriguez, 53-year-old Guttenberg man was arrested and hit with numerous charges after he stole a car and had large quantities of drugs, authorities said. On Wednesday, July 12, Guttenberg Police were contacted by police in Florida, requesting assistance with the investigation of a stolen vehicle that was discovered to be in the town, officers said. The Englewood native was the winner of the Thursday, July 13 edition of "Jeopardy!" extending his winning streak to two games. Sopher has won $26,202 so far. Newark Police Looking For Kidnapping Suspects Newark Police are attempting to locate two people who they say forced a woman into a minivan and made her withdraw $9,000 from her bank account on Monday, July 3. Plainfield Man Convicted Of Strangling Girlfriend Bryan Gonzalez Martines, a 23-year-old Plainfield man was convicted of first degree murder on Tuesday, July 11 for strangling his 19-year-old girlfriend in 2020, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said. On July 6, 2020, Plainfield police conducted a welfare check on the 700 block of Kensington Avenue and found the body of Brenda Montoya-Cruz, Daniel said. Martines was convicted after a month-long trial, Daniel said. Martines faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in September.
