Extreme Temps: Heat Advisory Declared In Westchester For Multiple Days As blistering temperatures and high humidity threaten to arrive in the area, Westchester officials are declaring a heat advisory that will last for numerous days. The advisory, announced on Wednesday, July 26, will be in effect from Thursday, July 27 through Saturday, July 29, according to Westchester County officials. Lost Duo Rescued From Hiking Preserve In Armonk With Help Of Phone App Two hikers had to call for help after becoming lost in a Northern Westchester nature preserve for several hours. The incident happened on Saturday, July 22 just before 5:30 p.m., when authorities received a call from two women who had become lost while hiking in the Eugene and Agnes Meyer Nature Preserve in Armonk. Lane Closure: Sprain Brook Parkway In Greenburgh To Be Affected A scheduled lane closure will soon affect a busy parkway in Westchester to make way for road work. The closure, which will occur on Thursday, July 27, will affect one lane of the northbound Sprain Brook Parkway between Route 119 and Route 110C in Greenburgh, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. The lane closure will last between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., officials said.

Traffic Incident Shuts Down Route 9A In Briarcliff Manor: Developing A traffic incident has resulted in part of a busy Northern Westchester route being closed in one direction. The incident happened in the area of Route 9A and Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor, the village's fire department reported on Wednesday, July 26 around 4:45 p.m. As a result of the incident, access to Route 9A southbound in the area has been suspended. Tractor-Trailer Bursts Into Flames On I-287 In Port Chester A tractor-trailer fire on a highway in Westchester caused a plume of smoke to soar into the air as the vehicle was fully engulfed.
