Man Fatally Struck By Train At Short Hills Station: NJ Transit A man was struck and killed by a train at the Short Hills station on Wednesday, May 10, NJ Transit said. At 12:19 p.m., Gladstone Branch train 417 struck the man near the east end of the platform, NJ Transit said. No injuries were reported to the 20 customers and crew on board the train, NJ Transit said. NJ Transit said trains on the Morris and Essex Lines and the Gladstone Branch will be running with delays up to 45 minutes. NJ Transit Police are investigating.

NJ Popeyes Discriminated Against Black Employee: Lawsuit A former Popeyes employee has filed a lawsuit against the Essex County restaurant, claiming the restaurant frequently discriminated against him because he as Black. Wesley Hammonds, a Jersey City resident, filed the lawsuit last month in Essex County Superior Court against Belleville Chicken, LLC, which operations the location in Belleville and the store's general manager. Hammonds had worked at Popeyes from June 2020 until May 2022, when he was terminated. Help Boy Scout Renovate Glen Ridge Ambulance Headquarters A Boy Scout in Glen Ridge is raising money to refurbish the Glen Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Squad headquarters. Alan Breslin has set up a GoFundMe as part of his Eagle Project to help build the ambulance squad a new office area at its headquarters, providing them with a new desk, countertops and flooring that will allow the squad to better complete their electronic patient care reports. Community Rallies Around Pink Slipped Bagel Employee For 21 years, Joanie Monroe was a fixture at Fanwood Bagels, to the point she was known as "Joanie Bagels." But now, she's out of a job. Monroe was recently let go from Fanwood Bagels as new ownership takes over. A fundraiser has been set up to help her deal with the loss of her weekly paycheck. As of Wednesday, May 10, almost $7,000 has been raised. Sires Elected Mayor Of West New York Albio Sires is returning to the mayor's office in West New York in a clean sweep for his late. Sires, who served as mayor from 1995 to 2006, was elected to the office once again according to unofficial results from the Hudson County Clerk on Tuesday, May 9. Sires leads challenger Cosmo Cirillo, a town commissioner, 1,816 votes to 825 votes. The other four members of Sires' slate are leading Cirillo's slate in the race for commissioner. 7-Year-Old Paterson Stabbing Victim Sees Community Support Sofia was just 7 years old when her whole life changed. The Paterson native was stabbed, and ended up in the hospital following the attack, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized by loved ones. A report by Univision says the girl was comatose following the harrowing incident at the hands of her grandmother, who has since been charged with attempted murder. Hillside Gas Station Robbed Three Days In Row Two Hillside gas stations were robbed five times over the course of three days, police said. On Saturday, May 6, two men in a black Hyundai Santa Fe robbed the gas station attendant and attempted to carjack a vehicle at the Mobil gas station at 1410 N Broad St, police said.
