Two Busted Following Hotel Assault: Sheriff Two Fredericksburg residents were arrested following an assault at the Days Inn on Sunday, Aug. 6, authorities said. At 9:25 p.m., police were called to Simpson Road hotel after a man said he was assaulted when he tried to kick two people out of his hotel room, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. NJ Man, 69, Sexually Assaulted Minor In Car In Parking Lot: Prosecutors A 69-year-old Whippany resident was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor in a parking lot, authorities said. Livingston officers responding to reports of suspicious activity in a car found Alan Kelsey, on Wednesday, Aug. 2, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said. Kelsey was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Stephens said. It was not immediately clear where the child was.

Army Officer, 43, Killed In Loudoun County Motorcycle Crash A 43-year-old Sterling resident and former officer in the United States Army, was killed in a motorcycle crash in Sterling on Saturday, Aug. 5, according to authorities and those who knew him. Joshua Desmond was taken to a hospital following the 9:55 a.m. crash on Corkwood Drive and Cascade Parkway, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office said. Three People Shot Inside Kearny Apartment: Police Three people were shot at a party in Kearny early Monday morning, August 7, authorities said. The shooting occurred at 1 a.m. at the Vermella East apartment complex, inside a single apartment, police said. The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said. Police said they do not believe this was not a random act of violence, and there was "some level of association" among the people involved. No Raise Raises Ire Of NJ Transit Engineers On Brink Of Strike Vote (Updated) Having not received a raise since before the pandemic, the 500 engineers employed by NJ Transit may soon be walking a picket line. Teenager Shot In Jersey City: Authorities A 19-year-old man was shot in Jersey City early Monday morning, August 7, authorities said. At 3:22 a.m., Jersey City police were called to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Union Street where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left shin, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Lotto Tickets Sold In New Milford Win $10K While no one won the big $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Friday, August 4, not everyone left emptyhanded. Two tickets sold in Bergen County and one ticket sold in Hudson County matched four of the white balls and the Gold Mega Ball, netting the lucky winners $10,000. Two People Shot In Newark: Police Two people were hospitalized after being shot in Newark Saturday morning, authorities said. At 10:29 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at Astor Street near Pennsylvania Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
