Driver Flees Fiery DWI Crash In Lindenhurst, Police Say After driving drunk, crashing his car, and fleeing the scene, a Long Island man was apprehended by police. According to Suffolk County police, 37-year-old Anthony Lacorte was driving his GMC Sierra while intoxicated at around 11:40 p.m. when he crashed into a parked car on 21 Lido Parkway in Lindenhurst. Though his car lost a tire in the crash, Lacorte, who is from Massapequa, continued to drive, police say. Seen This Car? Long Island Hit-Run Driver Wanted A driver who struck a pedestrian on Long Island in March is nowhere to be found, and police are asking for the community’s help in locating them. The incident occurred on Monday, March 20 in West Islip, according to authorities. Suffolk County Police said the incident happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. when the driver of a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck hit a pedestrian on the corner of Ruth and Kane Streets. Crips Gang Nabbed For Alleged Murders, Fraud, More On Long Island: US Attorney A federal court unsealed a 59-count indictment, which charges eight people for various offenses related to their roles in a subset of the Crips street gang, officials have announced. ‘Fix A Flat’ Scam: $8,000 Cash Stolen From Long Island Woman $8,000 in cash was stolen from a Long Island woman in a scam involving her tire being flattened, police said. The woman withdrew the cash at a Chase Bank, located in Carle Place on Old Country Road, on Monday, April 10 at 12:45 p.m., Nassau County Police reported. Suffolk County PD To Settle Lawsuit Over Discriminatory Policies, Pay Over $2 Million The end is in sight for a class action lawsuit involving the Suffolk County Police Department, according to court documents. The suit, which alleges that the SCPD has discriminatory policing practices against Latinos, would result in the department paying around $2.25 million in plaintiff’s attorney fees as well as making numerous changes to traffic-stop and body-camera procedures. Long Island Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Child Sexual Abuse: DA A man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child for six years has now been sentenced to a decade behind bars, according to authorities. On Wednesday, April 12, Central Islip resident Elmer Martinez, age 44, received the sentence, with an additional 10 years of post-release supervision, a month after pleading guilty to the abuse, the Suffolk County District Attorney announced. Long Island Nurse Allegedly Slams Newborn Face Down, Arrested, Charged: DA A registered nurse has been arrested, as well as her employment terminated after she allegedly lifted and slammed down a two-day-old infant in his bassinet, authorities said.
