An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Westlake Boys Varsity Lacrosse Advances To State Semis MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- The Westlake High School boys lacrosse team is on a roll. Fresh off its first-ever Section 1 championship, Westlake defeated Greenwich High School 12-5 on Saturday to advance to the state semifinals Wednesday at Adelphi University. Westlake faces Long Island champion Babylon at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the state title game Saturday in Rochester.

Carmel High School Filmmaker Honored As Student of Distinction CARMEL, N.Y. -- Christian DiBenedetto, a senior at Carmel High School, is a filmmaker on the rise. DiBenedetto was recently honored as a Student of Distinction by Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES during a Carmel Board of Education meeting. “Christian is a talented young filmmaker,” Tech Center teacher Liz Marques said. “He has really produced some outstanding projects.” DiBenedetto, whose love of film began when he and his older brother first started making their own YouTube videos, credited BOCES with giving him the opportunity to flourish as he proceeds into his post-secondary studies. …

Numerous Cuomo Aides Investigated In Federal Probe A number of aides close to Gov. Andrew Cuomo were investigated as federal attorneys looked into upstate development deals to determine if criminal activity took place, according to the Albany Times Union. Eight people were indicted on federal corruption and bribery charges by then-US Attorney Preet Bharara but many Cuomo aides, who were not indicted, were also investigated, including having their banking, email and phone records searched and subpoenaed, according to the Times Union.
