An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. Poughkeepsie Superintendent Accuses School District Of 'Emotional Distress' The Poughkeepsie City School District Superintendent is thinking of suing her own school board. Superintendent Nicole Williams has filed a notice of claim against the board for $1 million, citing "emotional distress." In the claim,  Williams' attorney, Stanley Silverstone, the board's actions have cost her $13,567 in legal fees and irreparable harm to her reputation. Williams and the school board have been butting heads over teacher transfers. Williams disputed a board vote that placed a moratorium on involuntary teacher and administrator transfers for the 2017-2018 school year. …

Man Possesses Xanax While Driving On Route 6, Yorktown Police Say A 23-year-old Mahopac resident was arrested and charged with possessing Xanax after a traffic stop on Route 6 early Wednesday morning. Shane McDonald was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a Class A Misdemeanor and driving with a suspended license. McDonald was pulled over after police saw he only had one tail light illuminated. Putnam County Legislature Appoints New Chairman PUTNAM COUNTY N.Y. -- Joe Castellano is now leading the Putnam County Legislature. In a 9-0 vote, Joe Castellano, a Southeast resident who has served on the board since 2012, was voted in as chairman while Toni Addonzio was named deputy chairwoman. Castellano, who is running for a third term this year, replaces Ginny Nacerino.  Addonizio, a Kent resident, is starting her second term.
