Indian Point Schedules New Siren Sounding Test Indian Point will be testing its emergency notification sirens on Wednesday between 10 a.m and 10:30 a.m. As part of the test, sirens at the Buchanan-based nuclear power plant will sound at full-volume for approximately four minutes in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam. Because this is only a test, the public is not required to respond during the siren sounding.

Crompond Elementary School Closes Following Gas Leak Crompond Elementary School in Yorktown Heights was closed Monday morning after firefighters turned off a propane tank that was leaking, Yorktown Police said. Students were sent home and no injuries were reported. School officials said the problem was caused by a faulty connection on a propane tank outside the school, according to News12.

The SWBOCES Culinary Arts Program made breakfast for the 200 residents who turned out for the event last week. Students from the program made waffles, quiche, roasted potatoes flavored in onion and rosemary, sausage, and bacon, as well as fruit salad, scones, mini muffins, cupcakes, cinnamon raisin and pumpkin spice bread.
