An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Two Lakeland Field Hockey Players Sign Letters Of Intent To Play In College Two members of Lakeland High School's championship field hockey team will be playing in college next year.Caroline Cahill and Kelsey McCrudden recently signed letters of intent to play at James Madison University in Virginia and the University of Albany, respectively. The two starred on the field hockey team, which recently celebrated an undefeated season and captured its 9th straight title. McCrudden and Cahill both earned All-Tournament honors.  The field hockey team has not lost to a New York State team since 2008.

State Increases Fines For Hunting Deer Out Of Season Before trying to bag a deer, New Yorkers should make sure they are in season- or it will be costly. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Wednesday that will increase the fines of killing deer, bear, moose, and elk out of season to a minimum of $500 and a maximum of $3,000.  The bill takes effect in 120 days.  Hunters are also banned from shining spotlights onto deer, causing them to freeze and making them easier to kill. Repeat offenders are subject to increased penalties.
