Man Busted For Driving Drunk Through Work Zone, Fleeing Cops In Capital District, Police Say A Capital District man is behind bars after he was allegedly busted driving drunk in a work zone and then tried running from police. New York State Police said 911 calls started coming in at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, with reports of an erratic driver in Saratoga County heading southbound on I-87 in the town of Wilton. Woman Ejected After Vehicle With Three Occupants Crashes Into Trees In Area, Sheriff Says Investigators say “fatigue” may have caused a Hudson Valley driver to lose control of a car and crash into a wooded area early Wednesday, July 13, sending three people to the hospital. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened just after 3 a.m. in the Town of LaGrange on Route 55 near Sedgewick Road. A preliminary investigation found that a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Route 55 when the driver lost control and drove off the roadway before striking several trees, police said. Man Sentenced For Having Sex With Minor In North Salem A man was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting that he traveled to Westchester County to have sex with a 15-year-old. Christopher Nunez, age 27, of Florida, received the maximum sentence allowed Tuesday, July 12, after previously pleading guilty to third-degree rape, a felony. Nunez admitted to traveling from his home in Miami to North Salem in May 2021 to engage in sexual activity with the teen, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Hudson Valley Man Called City Office, Threatened To Shoot Cops, Police Say A Hudson Valley man is facing criminal charges after allegedly threatening to shoot police officers. Ulster County resident Masani Gordon, of Saugerties, was arrested Thursday, July 8, following an investigation by Saugerties Police. Investigators said the 26-year-old called the Town of Saugerties Supervisor’s Office in June 2022 and threatened to shoot members of the city’s police force. Police did not say what, if anything, may have prompted the threat. Gordon was charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, and ordered held at the Ulster County jail without bail.

Ex-Hudson Valley Bagel Shop Owner Sentenced For $2M Scam A former Hudson Valley resident is heading to federal prison for defrauding prospective franchisees of his bagel company. Joseph Smith, age 57, formerly of Fishkill in Dutchess County, was sentenced to three and a half years behind bars after pleading guilty in February 2022 to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax evasion. Suspect On Lam After Capital District Man Found Shot In Stomach Police are investigating after an 18-year-old Capital District man was found shot in the stomach. Officers in Troy were called at around 11:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, with reports of a disturbance near 5th Avenue and 102nd Street.
