Video: 6 Tractor-Trailers Burst Into Flames At Trash Dump In Capital District Firefighters spent hours battling a large blaze that broke out at a trash dump in the region. Emergency crews in Greene County were called at around 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, with reports that several tractor-trailers had caught fire at the Catskill transfer station, located on Highway 385. Firefighters arrived to find six, 120 yard trailers that were filled with trash and on fire, the Catskill Fire Company said. Flames had already burned through the walls and frames of three trailers. Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Drug Charges For Capital District Man A traffic stop in the Capital District ended with a man jailed on felony drug charges, authorities said. State Police in Saratoga County stopped William Boyd, age 38, of Niskayuna, at around 9:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, on I-87 in the town of Moreau. Troopers had initially stopped Boyd for violating vehicle and traffic laws, police said. During their interaction, however, troopers determined that he was in possession of a large quantity of cocaine, according to police. 4 Polio Samples Confirmed In New County In Region New York health officials have found polio in more wastewater samples, indicating that the virus is likely spreading. The state health department said analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the presence of polio in four samples that were collected in Sullivan County. 'His Intentions Were Clear': Man Charged In Brutal Machete Attack At Long Island Store The suspect in a brutal machete attack at a Dick’s Sporting Goods on Long Island that injured three people has been charged with attempted murder. Treyvius Tunstall, age 22, of West Babylon, was charged with multiple crimes in Suffolk County Monday, Aug. 29, stemming from the attack that injured a store manager and two customers. 84-Year-Old Hit, Killed After Exiting Car On Highway In Capital District An elderly man who got out of his car in the middle of a Capital District highway was struck and killed by another vehicle, authorities said. The incident happened in Albany County at around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, on I-787 in the village of Menands. 24-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash In Capital District A 24-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the Capital District. The wreck happened in Greene County at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in the town of Hunter, State police said. Investigators determined that Luke Niosi, of Coxsackie, was riding a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on State Route 23A when he crossed the center line and struck a guardrail.
