Man Assaulted ICE Officer While In Federal Custody In Newark: DOJ
A 39-year-old native of the Dominican Republic was arrested and charged on Tuesday, April 15 with assaulting an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, authorities said.
On Wednesday, March 26, Darlin Leon was at an ICE facility in Newark, pending removal from the country, US Attorney Alina Habba said. While being processed for removal, Leon struck the victim, a deportation officer in the head with a closed first at least four times, Habba said.
The ICE officer sustained lacerations and abrasions to the back of his head, Habba said.

A 34-year-old Bridgeton man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Monday, March 31,after robbing two pizza delivery drivers at gunpoint.
In 2019, Tyreen Walker placed orders with Domino's Pizza and Pizza Hut, requesting a pizza delivery, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. When the order arrived at the location, he robbed the drivers, taking the pizza and whatever money they had, Webb Mc-Rae said.
Walker was sentenced to two seven-year prison terms for robbery, with the sentences being served consecutively, Webb-McRae said.

A 42-year-old man from Berkshire County has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of child rape, sexual assault, and witness intimidation, authorities announced this week.
Henrry Ospina Samaca, formerly of Pittsfield, admitted guilt to two counts of rape by force, two counts of aggravated statutory rape, two counts of intimidating a witness, and six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.
